Marketing Magic,… the sequel

It turns out that Plaxo does not live up to its promise. In my last post I explained how I joined mainly because they seemed to have attracted great professionals but most people I see there are also on LinkedIn while the contrary is not true. So what?
  • Viral marketing only works if you deliver on your promise
  • Web 2.0 marketing is different from “old web marketing” because the companies do not control 100% of the quality of their products. They depend on the quality of their communities.
  • An interface is not a significant differentiation. I recruit on Infojobs which has a terrible interface because there are more and better candidates, I use LinkedIn because they have more and better professionals
  • 1st mover’s advantage remains significant
